50+ male. I grew up on classic science fiction and comic books. Most of my favorite material is predictable - original Star Trek, Farscape, now Battlestar, new Who and anything by Joss Whedon. When it comes to comics however, I am all over the place. I actually think Marvel is better except when it comes to the animated series. Batman, Justice League, Young Justice, Green Lantern and even Beware the Batman. I'd rather watch those than most scripted television.
Of all the characters in all the shows, the Batman / Wonder Woman pairing is my absolute favorite. It's a combination you didn't even know you were missing out on until you first experience it. As much as I would have liked to see DC take the idea further, we are kind of lucky they didn't. If they had, we'd have so much less to write about!
Speaking of writing.... It's not something I've ever aspired to. I wrote one chapter of a Glen Cook Black Company story over ten years ago. So why write now? Well, I can't help it. Reading BMWW for the last year has inspired me. There are stories out there just begging to be told, especially the "fill-in" stories - the ones that add detail to what we already know.
For the record, my "head canon" is primarily based on DCAU. There is some light and humor to Batman, just a little darkness to Wonder Woman, and only two Robins. I just ignore the New 52, especially SMWW, Dick Grayson with a gun, or a Harley Quinn that is too far gone.
One last thing.... after BMWW, my next favorite pairing is Batgirl / Harley Quinn. Psalm of the Lark by Jessica X is one of the best AU fanfics I have ever read. That dynamic is nearly as much fun as BMWW. If I ever get the hang of this writing thing, I intend to pull the two together in a couple of stories as well.
