Re: Crisis on Infinite Earths (CW)

Well, wow, that was...bad. First of all, the plot is just paper thin. I wasn't expecting great writing but man, is it clear that CW was just banking on bringing back the big names to carry this thing. I'm not going to talk about specific points but anything regarding Superman and Supergirl is cringe...

Re: WONDER WOMAN 1984 Trailer

Eh, leaks sounded kinda goofy, true, but so did the ones for the first movie and it still ended up being pretty fun despite almost all of them being true. I do like how they ditched the sword-swinging Diana from the first movie and went with the traditional stuff, like Wonder Woman throwing her tiar...

Re: Robert Pattinson is cast as Batman

Earth One Batman blows but I thought the suit was OK, plus it's fairly close to Affleck's suit so if they wanted to keep continuity, it'd be the best choice. I hope we get the lenses this time, though. Maybe make them black instead of white just to put their own spin on it.

Re: Wonder-Books Talk

I don't think self-contained stories are bad (in Batman's case, they are frequently some of his best), it's more that they seem to come with the mentality that characters have a specific niche that they are in and should never get out of i.e. Batman is urban crime stories, Wonder Woman is Greek myth...

Re: Bat-books Talk

It sucks too because it means that Catwoman's ridiculous over-the-top competence has been firmly solidified in DC canon. So later writers can't just go back to writing Catwoman being a great thief and nothing else because the fan brigade will screech that they are breaking canon even if said canon s...

Re: Robert Pattinson is cast as Batman

Well, ain't that something. I can't imagine Catwoman as Irene. She just isn't smart or clever enough but then again Reeves may take some inspiration from King. I don't know how to feel about this rumor, I don't think it is true so that's number one. The taking inspiration from Adam West part just c...

Sooo, I'm guessing no one's gonna comment on this one? Can't say I blame you, this movie was...not particularly good.

Re: Bat-books Talk

I'm gonna give King some credit here and say that it's possible that he has flashes of inspiration every now and then and SOME of his writing on Batman is kind of clever (the whole reverse Knightfall thing), it's just its drowned in so much literary sewage that it's impossible to appreciate it. So i...

Re: Robert Pattinson is cast as Batman

Personally, if they were going to do "grounded" (sort of) Batman, I'd rather they just made a TV series. The budget wouldn't need to be all that high and now that Marvel cancelled Daredevil for some boneheaded reason, I need my fix. Plus I'm tired of all these knock-off wannabe Batman shows that kee...

Re: Robert Pattinson is cast as Batman

Yea, I saw that too sufficed to say not very cash money. When I saw King's name I wince in pain as to what will be subjected to us in a King-inspired take on Batman on the big screen but then I realize all he said was that he read King's work not that he liked it or even thing its good plus he is j...

Re: Robert Pattinson is cast as Batman

I'm not really a fan of Snyder's visual work in his DC movies. It's always toned down and bland as hell - compare it to something like Sucker Punch, which was a visual treat for all its other faults or even Watchmen, which is what I expected Snyder to try to do with DC. It's almost like Snyder was a...

Re: Bat-books Talk

The premise is just silly in general. The Knightfall book tweaked just one part of the whole "what if Batman couldn't beat Azrael" and ran with it. Death of Superman did a whole reverse-Injustice with Lois (which is bizarre because even in the original story, while Lois was upset, she didn't have a ...

Re: Robert Pattinson is cast as Batman

Jonah Hill would've been about as fitting for the Riddler as Jesse Eisenberg was for Lex Luthor, so no big deal. I can't take Seth Rogen's goofy, dumb face seriously and he has limited range, so that was a bullet dodged. I have no idea how Zoe Kravitz keeps getting roles, she plays the same characte...

Re: Crisis on Infinite Earths (CW)

I'm afraid I'm just a bit too burned out on CW's trash programming to care at this point. Normally, I'd tune in just for the novelty of seeing Kevin Conroy do a live-action Batman or Brandon Routh getting another shot at Superman or Matt Ryan's Constantine getting more screen-time but with them thro...

Re: Joker 2019 movie

I'm gonna have to break with the crowd and say that I didn't really enjoy this movie. It's not a bad movie, the cinematography is fantastic and Joaquin Phoenix does a pretty great job with the material that he is given but when I left the theater, pretty much the only thought running through my head...

Re: Harley Quinn movie.

Forget agendas, this just looks awful regardless. The costumes and designs are garbage, the characters don't seem to be remotely anything like their comic counterparts in likeness or personality and screw Harley Quinn, seriously. She was only ever a midway-decent character when she is playing off th...

Re: Bat-books Talk

So, Tynion confirmed that he'll be continuing the Bat/Cat relationship after he takes over. It might not be as bad as King but you can bet he'll be hamstrung by King's crap and it will be only slightly less bad than before.

Damn it, I really wanted Priest to take over.

Re: So we almost had a continuation of JLU in comic book form

Honestly, I doubt a DCAU reunion would get us any WonderBat, ARB. As you mentioned, aside from McDuffie, few people on the show seemed to care about the pairing, which is why WonderBat was kind of sparse and never fully explored. With McDuffie gone, even less chance of it happening now. Maybe if Sus...

Re: So we almost had a continuation of JLU in comic book form

Oof, that looked awesome. His Darkwing Duck is pretty cool, so I'd have loved to read this. Only issue is that Wonder Woman's character seems a bit regressed, why is she still learning about the customs of Man's world? If this takes place after the ending of JLU, then she should be past that by now....

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum 10th Anniversary!

Apparently WB Games Montreal is teasing a new Batman game with the Court of Owls. Snyder retweeted their stuff with some choice phrasing and then quickly deleted it, suggesting he might be involved as well. Personally, I wouldn't mind another Batman game but I'm not sure how well the Court of Owls w...
