So the Last of Us Part 2 won a readers award on the German site 4Players which I thought was interesting, considering that the game was criticized so heavily by critics on Youtube and stuff. Not saying that this means the game is flawless but I still felt like mentioning this. Apparently there are quite a lot of people who still liked that game.
That's fairly easy to explain: sampling bias and enthusiasm.

Gaming sites these days are really not very diverse and most have cultivated a specific audience, simply because over the years the average person who is only so interested in the subject matter(s) have tuned out and what you are left with are niches and cliques.

Very few sites have a diverse audience that actually is a representative sample of the wider population and with the ones that do, Joe Average does not care enough to even fill in a poll.
So Youtube is more representative of the wider population?

Weird thought, but between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, do you think Luke casually hooked up with Rebel women? Think about, he first shows up having saved one of the Rebel Alliance's leaders, and then like an hour later he blows up the Deathstar. There was no shortage of women in the group, and Luke would have been the new hotness. Thoughts?

As a whole, certainly more than any individual site or collection of sites (much to Mama Susan's chagrin). The yt channels of various gaming sites probably have a slightly more diverse audience, but probably not by much.

Individual creators are a bit better on the matter, though that highly depends on the creator. Angry Joe's comment section largely despises Last of Us 2, though there is a few strident defenders here and there and even some middle-of-the-roaders.

Suppose that depends on how much of a smooth playa you think a young coubtry bumpkin like that era Luke would have been.

He blew up doomsday weapon and owned a lightsaber, at that point how smooth do you really need to be?

It's not just getting the attention of women that's the issue, it's also having the guts to make a move or accept their advances.

Didn't seem like he was lacking guts. Maybe experience, but thats what the Rebel women could have helped him with. ;)

Saw a pretty interesting movie today. Robert Pattinson sure can act. He may not be such a bad choice for a young Batman.

I think I will buy myself the Wolf House for Christmas. I sure like complicated, creepy movies.

I just find hilarious that Batman love interest in the new movie aside from Catwoman is this random girl called Bella. The rumor i read is that he has been calling everyone Bella on set, purposely messing a bunch of shots. Don't know if any of that is true, though.

Now that's some 90s "goodness" i haven't seen in a loong time.

Unrelated, i just watched one of the weirdest Santa Claus movies ever in Fatman starring Mel Gibson.
I've got really mixed feelings about it, but i do like that i watched it.
I haven't seen any movie with mel in it in forever and the man is damn good actor.

Wouldn't mind him coming back for one more Mad Max movie.

Just watched the first episode of Miss Scarlet and the Duke. All in all, it was pretty good.

Image

Now, a story about "London's first female detective" is going to be woke(ish) and feminist propaganda(ey), but given the context of the time period it is set in and the way they present it, at least in the first episode, it didn't bother me as much, beyond my jaded cynical ass.
It is believable within the setting and they don't turn the all men into bafoons or satans. Indeed, the reason why Eliza has to struggle to get her way, which is actually interesting to watch, is mostly because it is "not right that a lady should have to do/see/hear such things". It's patronizing over-protective "chivalry", not malicious repression, hence it is also believable.

The main character is quite smart, but not perfect and she has hurdles she needs to overcome with her wits. Holy shit, that's actually compelling to watch.

Hope the rest of the show remains good.

We just had a 5.2 earthquake and 2 aftershocks hit us this morning. The epicenter was 12km from where i currently reside.

Have to say, that was a very interesting experience. I actually heard the actual quack coming. For half a second before the full thing hits, you hear a rumbling like when a tram or a train is approaching. When the full quake hits, it actually sound kind of like distant thunder.

No damage to our property and no casualties in general from what I've heard.

We finished watching the series. It's pretty good.

There's some preachy stuff, but no side is painted black and white. The final who-done-it mystery has a few twists that effectively distract and make it unpredictable til the very end and really all the mysteries and detective work are satisfyingly done.

The two main characters are pretty good and they have good chemistry. The support cast is also quite interesting, though to no small part because their on screen time is just right so they don't outstay their welcome.

6 episodes in total, 50 minutes per episode. Pretty nice watch on the couch with the souse/partner experience.
