Crisis on Infinite Earths (CW)

Mon Oct 07, 2019 9:31 pm

Felt I should at least make this whole crossover thing its own thread given certain actors on it.

Like
Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne.

Tom Welling as Clark Kent.

Brandon Routh as Superman (Kingdom come)

I'm afraid I'm just a bit too burned out on CW's trash programming to care at this point. Normally, I'd tune in just for the novelty of seeing Kevin Conroy do a live-action Batman or Brandon Routh getting another shot at Superman or Matt Ryan's Constantine getting more screen-time but with them throwing in everyone from Tom Welling to apparently even Michael Keaton being rumored to make a cameo to freakin' Lucifer showing up, this just feels like it's going to be one massive clusterfuck.

Oh, I see. I have to say this crossover is very ambitious I have never been a fan of the CW stuff but I respect what they are trying to do. I hope it works out.

Well, wow, that was...bad.

First of all, the plot is just paper thin. I wasn't expecting great writing but man, is it clear that CW was just banking on bringing back the big names to carry this thing. I'm not going to talk about specific points but anything regarding Superman and Supergirl is cringe. Batman just got...ugh.

Speaking of Superman, this is just more evidence that Tyler Hoechlin was a bad choice. It's awful enough that the writing does him no service and he keeps getting upstaged by everyone from Kate Kane to Mia flippin' Smoak but he doesn't even have the presence to command respect. Brandon Routh and Tom Welling effortlessly dominate every scene and ESPECIALLY when they are with Hoechlin. How they are planning to do a Lois & Clark redo with this guy is beyond me, no offense but he sucks.

I left Batman 'till last because this shit was just painful. This guy is basically the worst of Miller's, Snyder's and Injustice's Batman all rolled up into a neat little psycho package just so he can get owned by Batwoman with barely any proper characterization given to the guy. The fact that it's KEVIN FREAKIN' CONROY in his first live-action outing as Batman just adds insult to the injury, it was horrible.

I don't even know what I was expecting because this IS the CW but come on, I thought even they had standards.
