You have this thing about not being able to see religious ideology and political ideology as both being ideologies.
Yes, feminism is an ideology. This may come as a surprise to you but I am quite aware of that. I don´t believe in grand narratives. Every ideology is flawed in some way. Which is why you get people like Anita.
You say this, but then you complain about my "superficial comparisons"...

"There are already enough men's magazines/movies/shows/etc. You don't need another. Rejected."
When did I say that? I have no problem with new men´s magazines/shows etc being produced. Otherwise men would be in the same position women are now in fast.
Well, there's this:
Ghost13 wrote:I think the problem feminists have with that is less that men want to see themselves in the spotlight and more that they are already overly represented in the media.
The logical extension of that statement is that in order to balance things out men should be less represented in media in order to make space for women. To be fair, I am assuming that you agree wit this statement, though i do base this assumption on other things you've said.

And there's this too:
Ghost13 wrote:I see plenty of (none sexist) content produced mainly for a male audience but still fairly little mainly for women. Once this has become more even we may talk again about what you call "genuine equality".
You can't get this "even result" without reducing one side and increasing the other (artificially) and since you have finite resources and market space, you have to cut some things to make room for others. So if you desire more women oriented media, you have to prevent male oriented media from taking its place.
Ghost13 wrote:
Are you even willing to admit that you want equality of outcome as opposed to equality of opportunity?
Equality of outcome would be very difficult if not impossible to achieve.
The more pressing issue is do you think that it is an outcome that should be desired in the first place? Or to think of it from a different angle, do you think that perfect equality of opportunity would lead to perfect equality of outcome?
Ghost13 wrote:As for equality of opportunity. I don´t think we are there yet.
Ok, why do you think that and what needs to be achieved in order for that to happen according to your pov?
Ghost13 wrote:This is starting to become a kind of interrogation as opposed to a discussion. Confess! Confess!! You plead innocent? Hahahaha

Now, that was exaggeration, but you get my point, hopefully.
;)

Logical extension?

You just promote something like the new Ghostbusters ( preferably with a better script) and hope for the best. Seems to have worked for Bombshells, Lumberjanes, Rat Queens etc

Yes, because you are filtering out a shit tone of stuff to make that work. Like that big, almighty sky wizard for instance. Or, as I prefer to call this deity (insert God/ess of your choice here). Preferably to crowds of people who are atheist. Like me coincidently.

But us Feminist are all using shaming tactics against men...you are above that.

Now tell me more about these emasculated, guilty male feminist please. I am just dying to hear more of your man shaming .
Wanted to use that clip for some time, too :)

That would be the ideal approach, but do you honestly expect this to lead to a "more even" result/representation?
Ghost13 wrote:Yes, because you are filtering out a shit tone of stuff to make that work. Like that big, almighty sky wizard for instance.
That is an utterly irrelevant distinction. All ideologies, regardless of their "source" share.certain traits, such as shared/enforced worldview and.morality, ingroup/outgroup dynamics, a list of.tansgressions (sins), mechanisms to keep their followres in line, an enemy or opposing concept, etc.

NuFeminism"s original sin is privilege, the all-encompasing.boogeyman is the.patriarchy, and so on.

Just record.yourself or your nufeminist.of choice talking about male.privilege and some such and you'll be fine.
Maybe find something about "manspreading" if you feel particularly jaunty. ;)

Maybe not. But if thats the ideal approach we should take it.

Amazing, I explain it to you in detail and yet you still don't even want to understand.

fuck, it's like trying to explain to someone that that an electric car, a gasoline and diesel car all have 4 wheels, a chassis, transmission, etc., but he just doesn't want to get it.

All feminists think the patriarchy is the root of all evil... Oh no wait, that doesn't work. Let me try it again.

All asians are bad drivers, all germans drink oodles of beer, "all men are misogynist, all white people are racist, all cis people are transphobic (...)", cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria!

Keep telling yourself that. I am just not bothering to explain the problem with your arguments anymore.... in detail. Because they should be apparent to intelligent people.

Like most people on this website apparently.

I suppose it would be hard to explain how something is wrong when it isn't if you can't fall back on emotional appeals, political talking points and the ever popular "conservative!"

If you aren't going to bother, then I won't bother you or bother with you anymore either.

Just reading through this was more than enough to remind me of why I fucking hated the way the Sony tried to sell the Ghostbusters Reboot. They wanted a gender war so that they get SJWs butts in seats. And it failed, horribly.

First saying there aren't many independent Female Adventure heroines... Allow me to disagree with a short list, and please know that it is not complete, but rather it is a list that I'm coming up with off of the top of my head. Here is the films that I can name that have an independent female action heroine lead.

Smoking Aces.

Hunger Games,

Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1

Hunger Games Mocking Jay Part 2

Alien

Alien 2

Alien 3

Alien Resurrection

Tomb Raider

Salt

Underworld (and all of its sequels)

Resident Evil (and all of its sequels)

Kill Bill Parts 1&2

G.I. Jane

And a whole host of others.

Now the obvious question is why did I make this list of movies? Because each and every one of these movies were block busting action flicks that featured a strong female lead. They were awesome in their own right. Ghostbusters Reboot was a cash grab from the get go, and the fact that they gave Paul Fieg enough rope to hang himself with it was fine with me. The movie tanked, there is no sequel coming (thank God), and basically with very few exceptions the stores couldn't give the merchandise away. Everything went into clearance bins. Hell, the movie is out on DVD and Blu-Ray and already it's hitting the Five Dollar bin at several places. This movie was deeply depending on a gender war to sell, Sony was hoping that no one would realize how much of a meh movie it was, and they planned on the third wave feminist being the ones to hold this movie up as some kind of huge advancement toward women in movies.

The problem with that... There are movies with strong female leads, that play action heroines, that are actually good already out there. There's tons of them. This wasn't new and exciting. This was a Corporate cash grab that failed horribly. From the crappy Scooby Doo special effects, to the poor chemistry, to the terrible jokes this movie was damned near painful to watch. And this is coming from someone who believes in Love and Tolerate! I'm thankful that I watched it for free (found a pooched copy on the internet and watched it there.).

As for including the original cast. Yes, I'll be the first to agree that the best thing in the world would have been to have the surviving members of the original cast be Ghostbusters, pass the torch, which was exactly what Ivan Reitman wanted to do. Hell, doing it similar to Ghostbusters Extreme would have been a great idea. What I'm truly thankful about is that for the most part everyone has moved on, and desperately tried to forget that they were sucking Sony's bullshit through a straw trying to defend this.
