Favorite Zombie movies

Thu Sep 22, 2011 8:01 pm

Yeah, basically a favorite zombie movie list. Everyone has a favorite, and I'm sure for those of us who attempt to do the Zombie Walk there are more than one.

For me my favorite Zombie movies are as follows,

Night of the Living Dead 1968 version

Night of the Living Dead 1990 version

Dawn of the Dead 1978 version

Day of the Dead 1985 version

The Zombie Diaries (Released in 2006)

Zombieland (Released in 2009)

Dawn of the Dead Remake (2004)

The Evil Dead (original version 1981)

The Evil Dead 2 (Released 1987)

Return of the Living Dead (Released in 1985)

Return of the Living Dead II (Released in 1988)

Zombi 2 by Lucio Fulci (Released 1979)

And finally... The Video Dead (Released 1987)

All of the previous mentioned films introduced something to the Zombie Genre, and while I enjoyed the Resident Evil movies, I prefer to keep them separate by calling them game related movies. Granted they deal with the living dead, but eh that's just me. There are other zombie movies out there, and some are fantastically funny, others are terrifying, but most owe their thanks to George Romero.

In no particular order:

Evil Dead 2

Night of the Living Dead

Shawn of the Dead

Return of the Living Dead 2

Hell of the Living Dead (cheap as hell but also enjoyable)

Dawn of the Living Dead (Both versions)

Dead Alive

Dead and Breakfest

Planet Terror

Zombieland

I'm waiting for Zombie (the Italian movie directed by Lucio Fulci, also known as Zombie 2 because in Italy the original Dawn of the Dead was known as Zombie) to come from Netflix, and with everything I've heard about the movie I hopeful that it will soon join this list.

There's a couple in your list that I haven't watched before, and some I completely forgot about! I loved Dead Alive, that was a fantastic movie! I'll have to watch Dead and Breakfast and Hell of the Living Dead. I did forget to mention Night of the Creeps (Fantastic Alien Parasite zombie movie).

Zombi 2 is a great movie Grendle and I hope that you get to watch it soon. Don't expect it to have a happy ending though. It's pretty dark. Fuci liked to keep his zombie movies really dark, but hell they're freaking awesome anyway. Although between Fuci and Romero I have to go with Romero. Not because of the endings, but because Romero spent so much time with the main characters. Fuci's characters are alright, but they really don't grow very much. Still what makes up for it is the Zombies themselves!

The First Running Zombies was introduced in REturn of the Living Dead; however, out of current Movies 28 days later was the first in the 2000's. That said... 28 days really wasn't zombies. They where zombie like, but true zombies (Or in my view anyway) are reanimated corpses. The ones in 28 days later where still alive.

28 weeks later kinda shows a person getting killed by Infected then a few seconds later comes back but then the 28 later moives are based on a zombie VIRUS that spreads quickly other then the other slow walking ones its the same its just 28 later Zombies bite once move on while others just bite then devour even if the person who gets bitten he/she will turn

Yet they still starve to death?

Stupid Netflix abruptly raised their prices and I had to cancel it, so now I'm not going to get to see Zombie. And now I am sad.

bud, if you would like I can send you a digital copy of it. You know since you own a copy, and by law you're allowed to have a single digital copy for backup. I'll be glad to do that for you.
